Show Me My Path to €100K/Month →Google Ads No Conversions? Diagnose These Two Areas
If “Google Ads no conversions” describes what you see after paying for clicks, do not increase your budget yet. First, separate a traffic-quality problem from a website conversion problem.
Quick Answer: Why Is Google Ads Getting Clicks but No Conversions?
Verify conversion tracking first. Then check where the campaign is allocating spend and whether the resulting traffic shows buying intent. If the traffic is relevant, assess your store’s trust elements, pricing, loading speed and product-page title.
Clicks without recorded conversions do not prove that either the campaign or website is failing until you know tracking works correctly.
Verify Conversion Tracking Before Diagnosing the Problem
Start by confirming that purchases are being recorded correctly. Google Ads conversion tracking can record desired actions, such as e-commerce purchases, and connect them with eligible advertising interactions when it is configured correctly.
If tracking is broken or configured around the wrong action, genuine orders may not appear as purchase conversions. You could then change a useful campaign or product page based on incomplete information.
Use your normal validation process to confirm that the intended purchase action is recorded after an order. Account for any normal reporting delay before drawing conclusions. If you use Shopify, follow this guide to check Google Ads conversion tracking on Shopify.
Do not skip this step: interpret traffic and website performance only after you can rely on the conversion data.
Check Where Standard Shopping or Performance Max Is Allocating Spend
Once tracking is working, inspect where your advertising spend and traffic are going. The first branch of Robin’s diagnosis is unsuitable traffic: people may click an ad without having meaningful purchase intent.
A placement is a website, app, video or other inventory location where an eligible Google ad can appear. Performance Max is a Google Ads campaign type that can distribute ads across multiple Google properties using automated delivery.
Review the channel, placement and shopping information available for the campaign type in your account. Reporting visibility and navigation vary by campaign type and can change over time, so use the options currently available in your interface.
Ask three questions:
- Which products, channels or eligible inventory are receiving the spend?
- Do the clicks relate closely to your products and the buying intent you want?
- Is one part of the campaign consuming budget without producing tracked purchases?
Google Ads automation can allocate spend across eligible inventory. That does not mean Google is intentionally wasting your budget. Your job is to assess whether the resulting traffic supports your commercial goal.
If campaign structure may be contributing to the problem, compare Performance Max and Standard Shopping before committing more budget.
Assess Whether Your E-commerce Website Can Convert the Traffic
If the traffic looks relevant, move to the other side of the click: your store. A conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who complete a desired action, such as buying a product.
In the source video, Robin identifies four website elements to inspect. You can apply those checks as follows:
- Trust elements: Help new visitors understand who you are and feel comfortable ordering.
- Pricing: Check whether the price and offer make sense for the product and the traffic you attract.
- Loading speed: Make sure visitors can reach and use the page without a slow experience getting in their way.
- Product-page title: State clearly what the product is and why it is relevant to the visitor.
Clicks alone do not prove that the landing experience works. An ad may attract a relevant visitor while the product page still fails to build enough confidence for a purchase.
Use these checks as a starting point, then follow the deeper process to build a high-converting product page.
Use the Two-Branch Diagnosis to Find the Main Bottleneck
Robin’s practical distinction is that the same no-conversion symptom can originate on either side of the click. Google Ads may be buying unsuitable traffic, or the store may be failing to convert otherwise useful visitors. These are two main diagnostic branches, not the only possible explanations.
Work through the diagnosis in this order:
- Confirm that purchase tracking records outcomes correctly.
- Review spend allocation and the apparent intent of the traffic.
- Check trust elements, pricing, loading speed and the product-page title.
- Prioritize the clearest bottleneck before changing other variables.
- Review the resulting data before raising your budget.
As a practical testing approach, avoid changing the campaign, offer and entire website at once. Changing fewer variables can make the results easier to interpret. If you find irrelevant spend, use this guide to stop wasted Google Ads spend.

This article applies Robin’s short-video explanation of the two-branch diagnosis for e-commerce campaigns: inspect where the ad spend is going, then inspect whether the store can convert that traffic. The conversion-tracking check and ordered testing process are practical additions that help you interpret recorded results before making changes.

The diagnostic principle is durable, but exact Google Ads navigation and reporting visibility can change. Check the options currently available inside your account.
Google Ads No Conversions: Fix the Bottleneck Before Spending More
A Google Ads no conversions diagnosis should not end with an automatic budget increase. Verify tracking, decide whether traffic quality or the store appears to be the main constraint, and address that bottleneck before trying to scale.
