Show Me My Path to €100K/Month →How to Plan Shopify International Expansion With Google Ads
Shopify international expansion means launching an established Shopify store in additional countries with localized storefront and advertising settings. It can be a logical scaling move when you have already built a winning Google Ads strategy in one country.
My view is direct: if your store has generated more than €100,000 through a winning Google Ads strategy, you should be looking at geographic expansion. That figure is my practical scaling threshold from the video, not a universal rule or a requirement set by Google.
Quick Answer: How Do You Start Shopify International Expansion With Google Ads?
Add the new market’s language to your Shopify store, support the relevant currency and launch Google Ads campaigns suited to that country. Replicate the proven strategy rather than copying every setting unchanged. Existing conversion history can provide useful signals, but each market still needs fresh learning. Confirm demand, margins, fulfillment and product data before judging the launch.
New-Country Launch Readiness
- Proven strategy: Replicate the winning approach, but do not copy every setting unchanged.
- Language: Localize the Shopify storefront before launching campaigns.
- Currency: Add and verify the relevant currency for the target country.
- Campaigns: Use suitable campaign types and adapt their execution by country.
- Conversion data: Use existing history as a signal while expecting fresh market learning.
Prove the Strategy Before You Duplicate It
As a practical rule, do not expand internationally to rescue a strategy that has not worked at home. First establish that your offer, store and Google Ads approach can generate substantial revenue in an existing market.
Once you have that evidence, you do not need to invent an entirely different advertising strategy for every country. You can duplicate this winning strategy into other countries while adjusting the parts affected by local conditions.
The mistake I want you to avoid is leaving a proven strategy stuck in one country after reaching substantial revenue. At that point, geographic expansion is another scaling lever to test.
Country selection still matters. If you have not decided where to launch, use this guide to choose a country for Google Ads expansion before building the campaigns.
Localize the Storefront Language, Currency and Product Data
My first move would be to add the new language on your website. Do this before sending paid traffic into the market so each customer reaches a storefront prepared for that country.
Next, add the relevant currency where needed and verify how it appears throughout the buying journey. Language and currency are the core localization steps from the lesson, but they are not the only checks that affect whether the launch makes commercial sense.
As an application of this principle, use this short pre-launch checklist:
- Confirm that there is demand in the country you have selected.
- Check whether your margins still work after local fulfillment costs.
- Verify that you can fulfill orders in the target country.
- Review the localized storefront, currency and product data.
- Check any local requirements that affect the launch.
If you use Merchant Center, your submitted product information must follow Google’s formatting requirements. Review the Merchant Center product data specification, then use the country setup guidance to set up product visibility across countries.
Adapt Google Ads Campaigns to the New Country
Replicate the approach that made the original market work, then implement the right campaign types for the new country. Replication gives you a starting point. It does not make every campaign setting portable.
Check which parts of the original structure depend on its current country, language, budget, targeting or product setup. Keep the proven strategic logic, but adapt the execution to the market you are entering.
Do not assume every country deserves the same campaign structure or investment from day one. Launch it as a controlled new market, gather country-specific results and judge it against the margins and fulfillment conditions you confirmed beforehand.
This keeps international ecommerce advertising connected to profitable growth rather than expansion for its own sake. You can also follow a profit-first Google Ads scaling system as you decide where additional spend belongs.
What Can Existing Conversion Data Do in a New Market?
Google Ads conversion data is recorded conversion activity associated with valuable customer actions. Google explains the relationship between ad interactions and those actions in its conversion measurement guide.
An established account can provide useful historical conversion signals. That does not mean a conversion pixel knows an exact customer avatar or that all learning transfers automatically between countries.
Treat existing conversion history as a helpful signal, not a guarantee. A new country still introduces market-specific learning, so do not judge the launch as if it were simply another copy of your original market.
Before drawing a conclusion, check whether the storefront, product data, campaign execution, demand, margins and fulfillment are appropriate for that country. Otherwise, you may blame the market for a launch problem created during setup.
